John 20:22
"As the Father has sent me, even so I send you." And when he had said
this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit."
This is prior to the Pentecost. Did the apostles received the Holy Spirit right there? If not, what Jesus meant?

Re: John 20:22
Quote:
It is Pentecost "Now when it was late that same day, the first of the week, and the doors were shut, where the disciples were gathered together, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them: Peace be to you. And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you. [22] When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. [23] Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained". As the Father has SENT ME; SO TOO I [your perfect God] do send you [with my Powers and Authority] John 17:7-20 "Sanctify them in truth. Thy word is truth. As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for them do I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. And not for them only do I pray, but for them also who through their word shall believe in me" IF your still in doubt please READ Mt. 10:1-8 God Bless you, Pat /PJM

Re: John 20:22
PJM,
Read all of John 20 It is Easter morning, not Pentecost! (John 20:1) On the first day of the week,a Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. ... (John 20:19) On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” ... (John 20:26) Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” |

Re: John 20:22
Quote:
At Pentecost...the gift of permanence of the "indwelling" of the Holy Spirit is given...the gift of "sanctifying grace"...to continually share in the actual life of God as adopted Sons & Daughters of God the Father and actual brothers and sisters of Christ himself. For sure...they are two significant gifts,,,but the permanence of indwelling at Pentecost...is "light years" (so to speak) beyond anything given in actual graces for the task given by Christ. Look at it like actual graces give the apostles a power element of the Holy Spirit...but in the Pentecost...they are given the Holy Spirit himself...a personal God indwelling in them with all his gifts and powers...an incredibly more powerful gift...the Holy Spirit has made them his Tabernacle/Temple...forever Pax Christi . |

Re: John 20:22
I understand the Apostles received 3 different doses of the HS: at
Baptism (assuming they were Baptized by Jesus); in the Upper Room; and
at Pentecost.

The Holy Spirit IS God;and God is Perfect, so as long as we are Baptized and remain in th "'State of Grace," which means no unconfessed or unforgiven Motal Sins; the Holy Spirit dweels in us. 1 John 1;8-10 1 John 5; 16-17 John 20:19-23 Once we have the "In-dwelling" our chairty; our piety and our prayers effect the amount and types of assistance we are given.

probably not-- or you would not have asked this question-- and i don't really see any one on this post-- that has functioned in the fullness REVELATION, POWER AND UTTERANCE The nine manifestations of the Holy Spirit can be broken down into three categories: revelation gifts, power gifts, and utterance gifts. REVELATION GIFTS (A gift manifestation that knows something.) 1. A word of wisdom 2. A word of knowledge 3. Discerning of spirits POWER GIFTS (A gift manifestation that does something.) 4. Gift of faith 5. Gifts of healing 6. Miracles UTTERANCE GIFTS (A gift manifestation that speaks something.) 7. Prophecy 8. Divers (diverse) kinds of tongues 9. Interpretation of tongues These manifestations of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to every son and daughter of God after they are baptized in the Holy Ghost. Notice “the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” When you receive “the gift", the Holy Spirit, you also receive the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit “dividing to every man severally as He wills. ” These gifts are not just for the preacher, they are for every born again believer that is baptized with the Holy Ghost. He is that “same Spirit” Paul was referring to. 1john 2:27 |
